MetamorphosisTLC offers a wide array of topic-based seminars, practicums and onsite coaching services for teachers, lead teachers, coaches, principals and administrators.

There are two basic ways we provide these services:
1) upon request for customized services based individual school or district needs; or,
2) through sessions that are open to all educators wishing to attend.
Seminars can take place at your school or off-site.

MTLC professional development Content-Focused Coaching topics include
but are not limited to:

  • Coaching—from the basics to cutting edge practices proven to systemically improve teaching practice. Content-Focused Coaching picks up where other models leave off.
  • Mathematics Content—developing robust and flexible teacher content knowledge that meets educational standards and the underlying principles students need to know to succeed.
  • Pedagogical Knowledge--Development of pedagogical content knowledge in mathematics and generic pedagogical strategies that accelerate and deepen learning.
  • Academic Discourse—Classroom discussions are the most underrated and under developed tools for enhancing student learning. Fostering robust dialogue is our passion. We’re writing a book about it.
  • Differentiation--Making content accessible to all students, while challenging those ready to excel through differentiation techniques.
  • Assessment--Informal assessment and intervention strategies for all types of learners.
  • Self-Management of Learning: Setting and maintaining clear, high standards and processes that encourage students to meet high expectations.
  • Integration--Integrating literacy strategies into the mathematics class for struggling and ELL learners.
  • Lesson design--Mindful use of curriculum materials to plan robust, effective lessons.
  • Lesson Study--Coach/Lead Teacher (and/or Administrator) Study Groups and Study Lessons.
  • Instructional Rounds--Collaborative communities of practice for Coaches, Teacher Leaders and their Supervisors focused on defining and supporting effective instruction.
  • Evidence-Based Instruction--Developing a lens for effective instruction as evidenced by student learning—collecting real-time data and providing immediate student feedback that positively impacts teaching and learning.
  • Professional Development Initiatives--Designing coherent, professional development initiatives that build the capacity of the home team for long-term, ongoing and sustainable improvement in all classrooms, system-wide.
